Description

Fried Gram is one of the most significant pulses in India. It is used in the form of whole dried seeds and in the form of dhal, arranged by splitting the seeds in a mill and separating the husk. It makes a great, strong snack on the go because they’re low in fat and calories and high in protein and fiber.
Fried Gram has lots of dietary fiber and this helps prevent constipation as it promotes easy bowel movement. Roasted gram is an outstanding source of maganese, folate and protein, copper, phosphorous and iron. All these are very necessary for good health. It controls cholesterol level, diabetics level of people who suffering from these type of problems. It is very good for those people who want to control & plan their diet charts.
INGREDIENTS (measuring cup used, 1 cup = 250 ml)
to be ground:
  • 5 tbsp roasted chana dal/bengal gram/daria dal/bhuna chana dal
  • 2 tbsp grated coconut or desiccated coconut
  • ½ inch ginger, chopped (optional)
  • 2 to 3 green chilies, 1 to 1.5 tsp chopped green chilies
  • 4 to 5 tbsp water
for tempering:
  • ½ tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds/rai
  • 5 to 6 curry leaves/kadi patta
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. take 5 tbsp chana dal, 2 tbsp grated coconut or desiccated coconut, 1 to 1.5 green chilies, ginger and salt as required in a chutney grinder jar.
  2. add 4 to 5 tbsp water and grind to a smooth chutney.
  3. remove the chutney in a small pan or bowl.
  4. in another small pan or tadka pan, heat ½ tbsp oil.
  5. add mustard and allow them to crackle.
  6. then add the curry leaves.
  7. saute till the curry leaves become crisp.
  8. pour the entire tempering ingredients along with the hot oil in the chutney.
  9. stir very well and serve roasted chana dal chutney with idli, medu vadai or dosa or any south indian tiffin breakfast.
