Shami Kabab Recipe

Chicken Shami Kebab is one of the best non-vegetarian snacks to be served. Shami kebabs are succulent minced chicken/lamb with chana dal with spicy masala filling inside and crispy fried on the outside. Perfect for a dinner party during winters, it can be served with coriander or mint chutney,

Ingredients Required
  • Mutton / Chicken 1kg (Mince)
  • Yellow split lentil (Chana Dal)1 cup /200g
  • Onions (medium) 2 /150g
  • Ginger paste 1 table spoon/ 3 inch piece
  • Garlic paste 1 1/2 table spoon / 6-7 cloves
  • Eggs (whisked)1-2
  • Green chili 5-6 (finely chopped)
  • Green coriander 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
  • Mint leaves 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
  • Onion 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
  • Oil/ Ghee 1-2 cups
  • Mehran Shami Kabab Masala
How to Make Shami Kababs
  1. Mix the minced meat with washed dal chana, garlic paste, ginger paste, 2 sliced onions and Mehran Shami Kabab Masala
  2. Mix with 5 glasses of water and cook on low heat for about an hour until meat becomes tender.
  3. Increase heat and dry the mixture until 1/2 liquid remains
  4. Remove and grind the meat mixture into coarse and smooth paste, add chopped onion, green chili, mint, green coriander and whisked eggs.
  5. Knead well and make 25-30 flat kababs.
  6. Heat 1/2 cup of oil/ghee and shallow fry the kababs on medium heat from both sides until they turn brown.
Food pairing 
Serve hot Shami Kababs with Nan, Roti, Pulao, Salad and Green chutney. Serve for 6-8 persons.
