Jack fruit Curry - Kathal ki Sabji Recipe

Ingredients Quantity
  • 1/2 kg Jack Fruit peeled and cubed 
  • 3 tbsp Mustard Oil 
  • 1 big Onion finely chopped
  • 3 big Tomato Pureed
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 big Green Chilli Chopped
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
Preparation
  1. Apply oil in your arms, palms and fingers properly.
  2. Cut the jack fruit in half or 4 and immerse in water for 10 minutes. Let all the milk release in water.
  3. Remove from water and remove the skin with a sharp knife.
  4. Cut in small cubes.
  5. Pressure cook in 1/2 cup water, 1 tsp salt,1/2 tsp turmeric water for 2 whistles on high.
  6. Switch off the flame and allow pressure to release.
  7. Heat 1 tsp mustard oil and fry potato till it is half cooked.
  8. Add 1 tbsp oil and fry the jack fruit pieces for 5 to 6 minutes on high.
  9. Remove and keep aside.
  10. Heat oil in a kadai.
  11. Add cumin seeds and dry whole spices.
  12. Add chopped onions, ginger garlic paste and green chillies.
  13. Cook till onion turns brown.
  14. Add tomato puree, all powdered spices and cook covered till tomato is well cooked.
  15. Open lid, add half cooked potatoes and jack fruit.
  16. Add salt, sugar to taste.
  17. Add 1 and 1/2 glass of water and bring to boil.
  18. Garnish with coriander leaves.
